I'm passively trying to get fired

Yeah, I've had enough. I'm employed buy a huge multi-national computer manufacturer as a software engineer. I'd hope to be laid off with a severence package - but apparantly they like me enough for me to completly fuck up a project, work at home a whole year spending about 20 minutes each day doing work vs. sleeping or whatever, to give me a satisfactory review!!!

I'm smart enough to know intimately how computers work... I'm smart enough to meet my needs without selling my life away on an installment plan.

So I just stopped coming into work ala Office Space. Originally I was just going to quit... but that's dumb. My paycheck stops as soon as I quit. If I let them fire me, then the wheels of corporate beauacracy must first slowly turn before the paycheck stops.

Anyone have suggestions on losing your job?

Note: I'm thankful to have a great deal of savings so that I really do not have to work - providing I can live without cable TV and the JetSki that's been sitting in my garage for over a year now... and other absurd things. (Do I, 2 cats and 2 chinchillas really need a 1500 sq ft 3br/2ba home for $1500 a month house payment????)

Question...

I work for a non-profit agency. The woman I work for is an old librarian that is a control freak and I can't stand her. I was approached to interview for another position in the agency. Almost two weeks after the interview I was offered the job. During the time between the interview and the offer, I decided against taking the job. I went to tell the HR person today and was surprised that he was trying to talk me into taking the job. I asked him if the librarian knew about this and he said "yes". He said that he called her from CA (he was out of town for a seminar) to tell her. He waited until he returned before he offered the job to me (an hour before I left for the day last Friday). I hit the roof telling him that he shouldn't have told her before I had made my decision. He said that it was "the polite and professional" thing for him to do. WTF??! If I stay in the current job she'll make my life a living hell. I don't want the other job - I just want OUT of the NPO! I already told the manager I interviewed with that I don't like the whole working place or my current job. What would you do?

Florida Farm Workers Take On Taco Bell

Take note, saucy little Taco Bell Chihuahua. Farmworkers in Florida who pick tomatoes that wind up on the fast-food giant's menu are fed up with backbreaking work at slave-labor wages. They're uniting with students in a new Southern labor movement that just might rival the anti-sweatshop protests that rocked sportswear manufacturers in the 1990s.
