I work for a non-profit agency. The woman I work for is an old librarian that is a control freak and I can't stand her. I was approached to interview for another position in the agency. Almost two weeks after the interview I was offered the job. During the time between the interview and the offer, I decided against taking the job. I went to tell the HR person today and was surprised that he was trying to talk me into taking the job. I asked him if the librarian knew about this and he said "yes". He said that he called her from CA (he was out of town for a seminar) to tell her. He waited until he returned before he offered the job to me (an hour before I left for the day last Friday). I hit the roof telling him that he shouldn't have told her before I had made my decision. He said that it was "the polite and professional" thing for him to do. WTF??! If I stay in the current job she'll make my life a living hell. I don't want the other job - I just want OUT of the NPO! I already told the manager I interviewed with that I don't like the whole working place or my current job. What would you do?
