Re: no work...
Sun, February 8, 2004 - 2:20 AMNo telling where americas headed. The poor get poorer and the rich gets tricker.
It really sucks, to look at the folks coming into the country and taking the jobs. They work like mules for low wages and some live like pack rats in our city.
To there credit howver, they are prudent and hard workers. However the business community takes advantage and lowers the salaries across the board.
The want ads are a joke. I work in a transitional worker industry. People must get off public assistance in five years. Problem is the five years are up when the enter into the program. Which means they must change habits and begin to earn a living much lower than they are acustom to.
The families are in a state of shock. The knowledge , skills and abilities pay & bucks and the current lifestyle are at $19 bucks.so peeps are tring to out slick the system, with no P/C knowledge....Sad -

Re: no work...
Mon, February 9, 2004 - 8:42 AMYou guys are gonna F@!*in hate me! I lucked into a rather nice YOB (not a mis-spell) at the airport down here in Key West. When I say "lucked" into it I talked to a pilot down here that stops into a coffee shop I regularly go to, that's how things work down here, a lot of good jobs are just gone before they get advertised. This particular coffee house is kind of the main office for what we call "The Coconut Telegraph" down here. It's a small island and for most everything except the usual "Mc Jobs" you gotta know someone, have local references and network like crazy! Funny thing, when I took this job I got 3 other calls for work that day!
I work for an FBO (fixed base operations) Basically a glorified gas station. Part of the duties include fueling private planes and jets, handling baggage, schleping "catering" (food, munchies, ice) out to the aircarft and towing around multi-mllion dollar private aircraft. The job has it's perks like discounted flight school and hours, left-over catering which is pretty damn good most times. Flight crews (if they're smart and NOT assholes) know how to tip! Made over $200 in tips my first week! and this was on top of my pay. I'm lovin it! Now for the down side; If I get stuck on the fuel truck all day ....no tips, servicing a lavatory is no picnic, sometimes the crews are real dickheads (when that happens we just park their aircraft down in the south 40 and make em walk, WITH their bags!)Plus you gotta hustle on the really busy days and I'm no youngster anymore (51) Hang in there guys and gals, it aint always about the money.....I say find something you love to do (besides THAT guys! but then...hey if you're really good at F&*@!NG...but even the "adult" film industry can be hard work! Been there done that)It really makes goin to work a hell of a lot more fun! If you gotta be a wage slave might as well be doin something you really like!
I happen to have another source of income (small) so I work mostly to keep busy and to pay for my "toys" and hobbies.
I plan on getting my pilots license before the year is out.
It IS possible to find a job you like! And Key West....What can I say, in this town as long as you're not dead or dead-drunk you CAN find work. Expensive as hell though! and you do have to be connected for the good jobs.

i would just settle for work if i were you, the chances your new boss will be a dick are 1 in 1. i find if you dont set your expectations too high in that department you can only be surprised.

Mon, February 9, 2004 - 6:17 PMu gotta love the members of this group! My day job is a do gooder type org. Head honco was a former city councilman and polital hack, he is a cash millionaire that takes pleasure seeing his name in lights, cheated my son outta his last check.
It took all i can do not to get revenge. I'm growing i guess or kissed too much ass for to long to fight and start over again, it sucks...
I love this group. Stay strong, I love the Key west story, more power to ya. -

Re: no work...
Tue, February 10, 2004 - 6:11 AMrevenge can be had my friend. you just have to know how to get to people in a legal fashion. there are many ways to torture a foe without actually stepping outside the law.
example: i am driving along a busy street in my city (houston in my case) and get cut off repeatedly by a guy who then gives me the finger. now i could chase this guy down and beat the living crap out of him, but i would more than likely go to jail. however, thanks to the freedom of information act, i can take down his liscense plate and do a query online for his personal address. of course you can do alot of illegal things at this point, but i find that sending a nice greeting card that says...
"Hey mother fucker, i am just one of the many people you have cut off in a given day. the difference is, this person is crazy and now has your address.... happy driving!"
now, you haven't threatened or done anything legal but you now fill the victims mind with the endless scenarios as to what you MIGHT do to them. and of course you send this card with no return address or any markers that give away who you are.
cost: 33 cetns stamp 1.50 for a card. rewards..... a long time spent by the victim looking over their shoulder ... wondering what will happen.
there are of course ways to deal with former bosses. i find that many tend to violate one or another occupational law (minor though it may be) that can be exploited for personal gain and in some cases the shutting down of your former employment. a great place to start is the SPA. most companies have one pirated copy of a piece of software or another. a Call to the SPA *software piracy alliance* can net a 100,000 dollar fine per machine with offending wares on it - and return to you 10% of the total fine for the turn in.
but this is not always the best way to get at your former boss. each boss has their weak point. the trick is to find it and exploit it. lemme know if you ever want help.
